Gunmen kidnap Imo former Deputy Governor’s father

Yet-to-be-identified gunmen have kidnapped, HRH, Eze Madumere, the father of former Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere.

The monarch was said to have been kidnapped at Iho Community in Ikeduru Local Government Area of the state.

A resident of the locality, who pleaded anonymity, said the 89-year-old traditional ruler of Ezi–Mbieri Autonomous Community in Mbaitoli Local Government Area was reportedly ambushed by gunmen after sporadic shootings on his way to a funeral on Friday

The hoodlums were said to have dragged the traditional ruler out from his vehicle and drove to an unknown destination.

This incident was said to have sent panic and fear across the local government and entire state.

Confirming the incident Prince Eze Madumere, the former Deputy Governor of the state, disclosed that his father’s abductors have contacted the family.

The Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) Michael Abattam, also confirmed the incident and stressed that they have put machinery in place so as to arrest the culprits.
