Bandits kill 11, loot, burn houses, cars in Katsina

Suspected bandits in large numbers, armed with sophisticated weapons, on Tuesday attacked the Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina, killing no fewer than 11 persons, while razing several houses and vehicles.

According to reports, the bandits stormed the community late evening on Tuesday in an attack that lasted till dawn.

The hoodlums were reported to have attacked not fewer than 5 communities under Batsari local government during the operation.

An official statement from the Police Spokesman in the State, SP Gambo Isah, confirmed the incident.

SP. Gambo’s statement reads: “Yesterday, 9 November 2021, at about 1915hrs, bandits in their numbers, shooting sporadically with AK 47 rifles, attacked Katoge and Yanturaku quarters of Batsari LGA, killed eleven (11) and injured thirteen (13) persons.

”The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, has deployed the Deputy Commissioner of Police, in charge of operations, with additional units of PMF personnel to the area to beef up security and restore confidence on the affected communities.”
