Corpses recovered from collapsed 21-storey building in Lagos

Corpses have been recovered from the rubbles of a 21-storey building that collapsed on Monday afternoon in Lagos State.

According to reports, no fewer than seven corpses were recovered from the building, which was under construction and located off Alexander way, Gerrard Road in Ikoyi, went down and trapped an unspecified number of construction workers.

Ibrahim Farinloye, Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), while speaking with newsmen at the scene, confirmed that three lifeless bodies have been recovered and moved to a morgue owned by the state government.

“The deceased bodies were pulled out from under the rubble,” he said.

It was also gathered that three persons have been rescued and are currently being treated by the medical team of the Lagos State General Hospital.
