Operatives of the Ondo State Police Command have arrested a middle aged man, Soji Bakare, for allegedly raping a 10-year-old girl.
The suspect was caught pants down inside the room of the victim’s mother at Aiyeyemi street, in the Isolo area of Akure.
According to reports, the alleged rapist carried out the dastardly actIt was the time the mother was at her business place selling soup ingredients.
The suspect lives at Edo lodge area of Oke Ijebu, but visits Isolo to see his wife who owns a shop in the area.
Mother of the victim, Mrs Yinka Romoke Babalola, said the suspect was caught in the act and has been handed to over men of the A’Division, Akure.
Babalola said the victim had been taken to hospital by the police for medical treatment and examination.
She appealed to the police authorities, the Ondo state government and civil society organisations to help her so that the suspect is prosecuted for allegedly raping her daughter.
Ondo Police spokesman, DSP Funmi Odunlami, confirmed arrest of the suspect.
She said the suspect would be charged to court immediately because of the gravity of the offence.
