CSP Abonde, killed by Lagos mob for burial Friday

Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Kazeem Abonde, who was killed by irate commercial motorcyclists in Lagos last week, will be interred on Friday, October 1.

Abonde, 54, was killed by rampaging cyclists when he led a team of policemen to enforce restoration of commercial motorcycles from major roads in Ajao Estate, Isolo.

According to an obituary pasted at the Police Command Headquarters in Ikeja, the body of the senior officer will be interred at his hometown, Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

His remains, the obituary said, would depart Ikeja, Lagos, in a motorcade for internment at Baale Abonde’s House, Abonde Area Along Akanran Road,Ona Ara Local Government, Ibadan.

It said: “With heavy hearts but total submission to the will of Allah, the Commissioner of Police and Officers of Lagos State
Police Command mourn the untimely death of a gallant officer, CSP Abonde Sunmonu Kazeem.

“The deceased officer is survived by his wife, children and aged mother. May Allah grant him Aljanah fridaus.”
The Nation reports that the police had delayed his burial in accordance with Islamic rites to ensure the completion of the autopsy, other forensics or pathology related investigations that would help in nailing the culprits.
