Armed robbers on Tuesday attacked a bank in Iragbiji, headquarters of Boripe council of Osun State.
It was gathered that a policeman was feared killed during the attack.
Sources said the hoodlums came about 3pm and operated for about 30 minutes.
Some persons were reportedly injured.
An undetermined sum of money was moved out of the bank by the assailants, who first attacked a police station where the policeman was shot dead, a local source said.
The bank is located in the Oniyere area of the community, it was said.
The attackers reportedly escaped through Ada Road.
Police spokesperson Yemisi Opalola confirmed the assault, but could not ascertain the number of casualties.
She said, however, that a police tactical team had been deployed in the area.
“We are already there. We have deployed our tactics team to the area. We are on the top of the situation. We will give you full details later,” the PPRO said.
Spokesman of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) Daniel Adigun also confirmed the incident.
The Nation learned that the attack caused fear in the community.
