Deadly bandits struck again on Saturday night in Niger State, this time abducting the ruler of Borgu kingdom, the Dodo of Wawa, Dr. Mahmud Ahmed, in his palace.
The traditional ruler was abducted around 10 p.m after gunmen stormed the community, shot sporadically and went straight to his place for him.
According to reports, the bandits stormed the community in their numbers on motorcycles and picked the monarch in front of his wife.
The state Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the incident; adding that the Police were already on the bandits’ trail to rescue the district head.
Aliyu is the 16th Dodo of Wawa and a PhD holder in Environmental Science from a Malaysian university . He is in the 12th year of his reign.
