Retired Naval chief, Commodore Kunle Olawunmi, on Tuesday honoured the invitation of the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), at their Abuja office.
He was invited by the agency to shed more light on his interview aired on Channels Television in which he allegedly claimed that sponsors of insurgents and bandits were known to the Federal Government.
Commodore Olawunmi was accompanied by his lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN).
Falana later described the invitation as a friendly chat, saying that he could confirm that Commodore Kunle Olawunmi had a friendly chat with the officers at the Defence Intelligence Agency.
Falana said he represented the retired military officer during the chat in strict compliance with the provisions of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act.
In the television interview, Commodore Olawunmi described as an “aberration” the gunmen attack on Nigeria’s foremost military university, the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), where two military officers were killed and another kidnapped by the attackers.
He was quoted as saying: “It is an aberration; you don’t attack the Nigerian Defence Academy and get away with it. The NDA, like other military environments in the country, carelessly opens its doors to everyone on Friday for Jumat prayer, thereby giving terrorists the opportunity to profile the institution.”
