Bandits kill 12, injure 6  in Katsina community

Bandits struck again in Duba community in Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina State on Saturday night, killing 12 villagers and injured 6 persons.

Batsari, which is renowned as hotbed of banditry attacks in Katsina, also shares proximity with the dreaded Rugu Forest.

It is one of the 10 frontline LGAs in Katsina prone to armed banditry

Katsina Police Command confirmed the incident.

The Command Spokesman,Isa Gambo,told newsmen in Katsina, Sunday afternoon that bandits, numbering over 300 armed with General Purpose Machine Guns, RPGs including Anti Aircraft, invaded the community around 8.45 pm on Saturday.

He said: ”The bandits had upon their arrival at the Duba community started shooting sporadically into the air after which they looted a number of shops and rustled some domestic animals belonging to the Residents”

”As a result of the attack, twelve people were killed while six injured.”

He further disclosed the joint Military, Police and Air Force operations are ongoing to neutralize the bandits.

A resident of the area, Malam Aminu Batsari,also confirmed the incident to The Nation, funeral prayers have just been concluded for the deceased.

He also stated the injured have been taken to the hospital for treatment.
