Following the acquital of the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) by the Kaduna State High Court, the State government has filed fresh charges against the IMN leader.

This comes barely 48 hours after the cleric and his wife were discharged and acquitted by the Court.

In the judgement, Justice Gideon Kurada held that charges were filed against El Zakyzaky and his wife, Zeenat in 2018 pursuant to the Penal Law enacted by the state government in 2017. The were however, alleged of committing the crime in 2015 when it was not yet an offense at that time.

But reacting, Kaduna State Director of Public Prosecution, Daris Bayero, said the charges bother on terrorism and treasonable felony against the state and federal government.

He noted that some of the actions of the IMN leader upon which he is being charged with fresh allegations, dated back before 2015.

Daris said with the new charges the state government has filed, the court will issue an order for the arrest of Elzakzaky for him to answer the charges.
