Sowore shot by police, in stable condition

The publisher of Sahara Reporters and human rights activist, Mr. Omoyele Sowore, was shot by armed policemen this morning in Abuja.

According to reports, Sowore was shot during a protest to demand an end to insecurity in Nigeria.

A family member of the activist told The Post that he was shot in the right side of the stomach towards the hip by gun-wielding policemen drafted to the Unity Fountain, venue of the rally.

He said the police team had already taken over the venue before the arrival of the protesters.

He, however said Sowore is in stable condition in an undisclosed hospital.
