Less than 24 hours after the abductors of Greenfield University students. Kaduna, released 14 students to their parents after collection N180 million ransom, armed bandits struck again on Sunday and abducted many pupils of an Islamic school in Tegina, Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State.
According to reports, the bandits first attacked and seized the police station in the town. They were also said to have gone round the town, shooting sporadically into the air to scare residents, before breaking into a private school where they abducted children attending Islamic lectures.
The school’s proprietor, Yakubu Idris, said the gunmen went away with many students, including his younger sister.
The school is said to consists of nursery and primary schools, also hosts Islamiyya students in the evening and at weekends.
“It is difficult to say the number of students that were abducted,” Idris said.
It will recalled that bandits also abducted many students from Kagara, which incidentally is in the same local government area with Tegina earlier in the year.
